Life seems to be all about finding your limits. When we are young, we push them. Constantly. And we aren’t afraid to explore them. Somewhere in the middle of being young and growing up, our mindset shifts from pushing our limits, to making sure we don’t cross them.

When is that point in our lives that limitations gain the upper hand?

At some point, it seems, we join forces with the negative side of limitations and start following limitations like they are our boss. “Don’t go there, you know what happened last time.” Or “You’re not strong enough, you’re not smart enough, you’re not creative enough.”

We become the mouth piece for limitations. We start arguing that we have them.

Kelly Lee Phipps is attributed with saying, “If you argue for your limitations you get to keep them.”

I think we should quit whatever job it is that limitations hired us for. That’s right, limitations, you are NOT my boss anymore. I work for myself now. I get to decide what I am capable of. If you ever decide to change your tune, I can hire you back on as an employee of mine. Merely as support. But it will never again be the other way around.

The other half of the Kelly Lee Phipps quote is, “But if you argue for your possibilities you get to create them!”

Let’s push out limitations, and bring in possibilities. Stop arguing for what you cannot do, and begin imagining what is possible. No matter how big or small, start your possibility imagining somewhere.

We’ve got this.
